Photos and highlights from the 2014 Arizona Chapter American Public Works Association (AzAPWA) Statewide Conference.
Achen-Gardner Construction sponsored and attended the 2014 Arizona Chapter APWA Statewide Conference which was held at the Hilton El Conquistador in Tucson on July 27-29. More than 500 public works professionals attended this year’s conference which featured 57 speakers, 60 exhibitors, and an excellent environment for education, networking, and good old fashioned fun.
Achen-Gardner was a Gold Sponsor, Public Agency Scholarships Sponsor, and Exhibitor at the conference. In addition, we produced 3,600 Magic Mixer cards that exhibitors passed out to attendees Monday morning/afternoon. Some of these cards were imbued with “magic” and were redeemed for prizes at the Magic Mixer event Monday night. Lucky winners received a variety of prizes ranging in value from $25 to $200.
On Tuesday, July 29th, Christie Hall, Achen-Gardner Project Director, and George Williams, City of Scottsdale Senior Traffic Engineer, gave a presentation on our recently completed Northsight Boulevard Extension CMAR Project. The presentation titled “Northsight Boulevard Extension Project – Improving Traffic Flows and Increasing Safety” provided information about design and construction challenges on the project as well as data on the effectiveness of this and other roundabouts.
Achen-Gardner also received a Public Works Project Of The Year Award for our City of Chandler Wastewater Force Main, Water Transmission Main, and Lift Station CMAR Project. The project was a winner in the $25 million to $75 million Environment Category. Members of the project team accepted the award during the awards luncheon.
