Thanks to everyone who helped make the inaugural Downtown Chandler Block Party a big success.
We would like to thank the City of Chandler and all who visited and participated in the Inaugural Chandler Block Party. Achen-Gardner Construction has a proud history of giving back to our hometown community, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have sponsored this fun, activity-filled event. The attendance and variety of activities, entertainment, shopping, and food is a tremendous statement to the welcoming feel of “Chandler’s New Front Door” and the entire downtown area.
The “Thank Tank” Dunk Tank was a tremendous hit with adults and children alike inviting good natured competition, challenges, and lots of laughs. A special thank you to Mayor Dunn and Council Members Jack Sellers, Trinity Donovan, Rick Heumann, and Council Member-Elect Kevin Hartke for being such good sports and participating in our “Thank Tank” by getting dunked over and over to benefit The Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona through the Jen Hoffmann Memorial Fund. Jen Hoffmann was an employee, and a member of the Achen-Gardner family, who passed away in 2009 from breast cancer. The funds raised on Saturday (November 20, 2010) will directly support breast and prostate cancer screenings for uninsured women and men in our community. In addition to the Mayor and Council Members, downtown business owners Niels Kreipke, Dennis Minchella, Chandler Chamber of Commerce President Dave Warkentin, City of Chandler staff Teri Kilgore and Sheina Hughes, Hamilton High and Chandler High football coaches Steve Belles and Jim Ewan, and Achen-Gardner owners, employees, friends and families all jumped in the Tank for The Desert Cancer Foundation.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Block Party!
