Achen-Gardner Honored For Supporting The Desert Cancer Foundation Print

Every day is a good day to fight cancer.

On October 28, 2010, Achen-Gardner Construction received a beautiful glass cactus award at a Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona luncheon to honor our contributions. Achen-Gardner supports The Foundation in memory of Mike Kolling and Jennifer Hoffmann, former employees who battled cancer and promoted cancer awareness and fundraising.

"Our involvement in the Desert Cancer Foundation is very personal, as both Mike and Jennifer were part of the Achen-Gardner family," said Achen-Gardner Project Director Christie Hall. "Not only did Jennifer fight her own personal battle with cancer, but she also worked with the DCFAZ to fight on behalf of others. It is very rewarding to be able to continue that involvement."

Christie Hall will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure on November 12-14. Click here for more information and to support Christie's fundraising efforts.

The Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving uninsured women and their families who are in need of cancer care and treatment. The Foundation is a grass-roots, all volunteer organization whose object is to bring together coalitions of corporations, community and service organizations and private citizens in developing resources for cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment options for our medically underserved population. Our board strives to maintain the highest degree of accountability, ethics and professionalism in our work. Critical care issues in our communities and state are identified and addressed by partnering with health care institutions, other non-profit organizations, physicians and individuals to create a cancer-care network and referral system.
