Chandler, AZ– Downtown Chandler will come alive Sat., Nov. 20 with the City’s first Downtown Chandler Block Party. The event begins at noon and ends at 8 p.m.

Arizona Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from Frye Road to Chandler Boulevard as the community is invited to experience the new look of downtown and dine, browse, shop and stroll along the usually busy thoroughfare.

Admission is free and the event will include a series of "mini events" that will showcase the festivals and special events offered year round downtown, including a farmers market and art walk featuring 56 artists from around the Valley.

Presented by Achen-Gardner Construction, the event is being organized by the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership and City of Chandler and will kick off the "Home for the Holiday's" season with a free skating rink for children and illumination of downtown's holiday lights.

There will be a variety of food vendors, live entertainment on a community stage, tours of the new City Hall, a noontime ceremony dedicating recent streetscape improvements, and Dickens carolers strolling among the crowd.

Activities for children will include free pictures with Santa, the free skating rink, plus for a small charge, bouncie houses and rock climbing wall.

“Our hope is that people of all ages will participate in this exciting event,” said Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn. “Food vendors, art for sale, activities for kids and live entertainment will be just some of the sights and activities that people will take in.”
